Live Drama
Drama-based training doesn’t get better than this. Follow our professional actors and facilitators as they stage a live theatre in education performance of Game Changer’s Our Town.
‘Our Town’ is a gritty live theatre show that focuses on Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE). Audience members will meet characters Jake, Jade and Tommy who take us through their story. Through the performance, the audience will understand the ways in which organised crime groups target, test and trap young people who then become involved in drug dealing and county lines.
Making Meaning
The drama performance leads on to an interactive ‘Making Meaning’ workshop – a deep dive into the characters’ motives and behaviours.
We use recognised strategies to inform young people of the dangers of being involved in CCE, including ‘Role on the Wall’ and ‘Hot Seating.’
‘Role on the Wall’ allows exploration of both the emotions/characteristics and behaviours/actions of each character in ‘Our Town’.
Hot Seating is another incredibly powerful construct that allows young people to ask considered questions directly to the characters who remain in role.
Gamechanger Challenges
The final part of the session is the Gamechanger Challenges.
Skillfully facilitated, experiential learning challenges use a range of proven resources and activities for group cohesion and resilience. Gamechanger Challenges are designed to support young people to consider risk and make informed decisions.
These approaches have been successfully used to affect behaviour change and increase understanding for more than 15 years. Through Gamechanger Challenges, young people learn to identify problems and seek solutions, recognising the behaviours and approaches required.
