GAMECHANGER INTERVENTION TRAINING IN HULL

LAST WEEK, GREG AND RICHARD FROM THE GAMECHANGER TEAM WERE DELIGHTED TO DELIVER A CCE ‘CHILD CRIMINAL EXPLOITATION’ INTERVENTION TRAINING SESSION FOR A MULTI-AGENCY GROUP OF DELEGATES AT THE ALBEMARLE MUSIC CENTRE IN HULL.

Organisations in attendance included; Hull City Council Youth Liaison Services, Youth Workers, MIND Hull 1 and East Yorkshire 1 and a Community Youth Liaison Support Worker for Humberside Police. With some incredible experience and lots of enthusiasm in the room, it made for a successful and impactful training event.

The two day training course included full training on Gamechanger Challenges activities from the GC Challenge Kit, as well as training on the effective delivery of our ‘hard-hitting’ and realistic Virtual Reality CCE Experience ‘Change Your Game’, and the complimentary online learning platform which hosts a series of six interactive modules for young people to work through and achieve awards and badges along the way in recognition of their hard work.

The challenges act as a great icebreaker for adults and young people alike where participants must use communication, negotiation and teamwork to achieve success. Whilst the activities delivered as part of this session are intended to be used in conjunction with the specific CCE Intervention programme we were training for, they can also be used as part of wider outreach with young people in a variety of settings across the City and East Riding area.

Delegates commented that they had not encountered anything like this before that sought to tackle CCE and County Lines with children and young people themselves. They talked about their own experiences in managing young people at risk of exploitation and some of the issues they faced in terms of funding and outreach projects.

Feedback from the training was overwhelmingly positive and we thank those who attended for their commitment to the delivery of this important work. Last week was the start of our new partnership with the City of Hull, who have invested in CCE Intervention and Impact programmes with Gamechanger. We look forward to working closely with them in the coming months to improve the lives of as many young people as possible through this important work.

There was also some really useful feedback related to involving parents and offering tailored solutions to young people with additional needs, which we are looking forward to introducing as part of the development of Gamechanger programmes.
